Your first full 50-minute session is a dedicated intake assessment. During this time, I will ask detailed questions about your history and what you are hoping to achieve in therapy. We will also review the informed consent paperwork. This session is about gathering context and ensuring my therapeutic approaches (like AF-EMDR or SE) are the right fit for your specific needs, so we can collaboratively build a treatment plan. You will never be forced to talk about your trauma before you are ready.
-

In Alberta, "Registered Psychologist" is a legally protected title. It means the practitioner has completed extensive graduate-level education, supervised clinical hours, and rigorous provincial examinations through the College of Alberta Psychologists. Because of this high level of regulation, services provided by a Registered Psychologist are widely recognized and covered by most extended health benefit plans.
-
Yes. In Canada, services provided by a Registered Psychologist are considered a tax-deductible medical expense. If you pay out-of-pocket or have a remaining balance after direct billing, you can claim these expenses on your personal income tax return.
